Colin Curwen, Executive Producer
Colin Curwen is a digital arts and technology nerd and dyed-in-the-wool entrepreneur who is also the founder, executive producer and chief technologist at New Machine Studios.
Colin came to producing from a background in technology as a Macintosh Network Administrator. He served as the Apple Education Sales Director for Southern Alberta before leaving to join cloud-computing pioneers FutureLink and later cMeRun during the first 'Dot-Com' boom. After returning to Calgary in 2001, Colin decided to indulge a lifelong fascination with animation.
In 2003, after a few years of producing commercial projects, Colin founded New Machine Studios to focus on original productions. In 2004 he co-created and produced How Raven Stole the Sun, an internationally award-winning animated short film which begat the 26-episode series, Raven Tales, and began developing a slate of animated features, the first of which, The Wizard’s Christmas is currently in production.
In 2002 Colin founded a boutique IT consultancy that helped small and medium sized businesses implement technology with inexpensive and easy-to-manage solutions. He sold the business at the end of 2008 to focus on building up the studio, but is still very active as an integrator and consultant for open-source and mac-based projects, particularly as it pertains to digital arts production.
